Program Description:
The 12-credit, graduate level Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS) in Public Leadership and Management provides students with a rigorous post-graduate experience focused on the leadership and management of public agencies as well as developing concrete knowledge in specific policy areas.
 
Students already enrolled in a graduate program at Syracuse University can earn this certificate concurrently with their master’s or doctoral degree.  The certificate can also be completed as an independent graduate program.
 
The certificate can be completed in two ways: as a full-time student for one semester (roughly 15 weeks), or on a part-time basis completing the course work in 1-3 years. This certificate can be completed on campus or online.

Student Learning Outcomes


1. Identify and define key public administration concepts.

2. Explain and assess leadership and managerial theories, skills, and competencies.

3. Apply problem solving and analytic skills

4. Develop their role and potential as public administrators and leaders

Requirements


To earn the certificate, students complete the required 3-credit course, PAI 895: Managerial Leadership and 9 additional credits of graduate coursework selected from a list of accepted courses.  All courses must carry a PAI prefix.
