The Magazine, Newspaper, and Online Journalism program prepares students to work on the nation’s magazines, newspapers, wire services, and online web sites. Students learn to meet professional standards in whichever specialization they choose: writing, reporting, design, or editing. The program emphasizes deadline requirements, reportage, and field study.
Students may choose to complete the Magazine, Newspaper, and Online Journalism program with the specializations listed above or they may choose to finish with the Sports Media & Communications track of courses.
The Magazine, Newspaper, and Online Journalism program concludes with six credits of capstone experience.
The Sports Media & Communications Track within the Magazine, Newspaper, and Online Journalism program allows students to utilize skills learned in the Magazine, Newspaper, and Online Journalism program core and apply them to Sports Media & Communications. The track includes an introductory sports media and communications summer course, specialized sports media electives, and both an internship and an independent study in sports media and communications.
The Master of Arts (M.A.) in Magazine, Newspaper, and Online Journalism is a 36-credit program.
The Master of Arts (M.A.) in Magazine, Newspaper, and Online Journalism with a track in Sports Media & Communications is a 37-credit program.
