Program Description:
There is a growing population of professionals in business and industry, higher education, non-profits and social services organizations, government and military, healthcare and insurance, media, and other contexts who find themselves in positions related to training and professional development, yet have little knowledge about how to design effective and efficient instruction. This 12-credit certificate will provide students with a foundational knowledge of Instructional Design and help them begin developing competencies to practice. It focuses on helping candidates develop the competencies to analyze human performance problems, identify gaps in knowledge, skills, and attitudes and design, develop, and evaluate instructional solutions.
The program offers two options:
-
Option 1: Four courses requiring in-person attendance on Syracuse University’s campus.
-
Option 2:A fully on-line program with the same four courses, primarily admitting students who cannot come to Syracuse for classes. Although these courses may have some synchronous times (all students meeting on line at the same time), this option has no requirements for on-campus attendance.
Admission:
- Bachelor's Degree
- We recommend applicants have an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or better. However, in reviewing applications, all elements are carefully considered.
- Official transcript of all undergraduate and graduate study
- Personal statement of goals. Please describe in approximately 500 words:
- your main academic interests;
- why you are interested in the IDD&E program;
- why you wish to study at Syracuse University;
- how you expect to finance your studies;
- and your plans for the future, after you receive your degree.
- 3 letters of recommendation
- Resume or CV
- International students: TOEFL/IELTS scores
