Description:
The Design Studies minor responds to the increasing popularity and broad awareness of design and design thinking in business and society as a whole. Design is hot news and increasingly students are interested in learning about design. Moreover, across campus there is growing enthusiasm for entrepreneurial innovation and design development. Many of these students are engaging in design activity without having had the opportunity to actually study design. The minor will open up elements of the design curriculum to students across campus, allowing them to take courses and enhance their knowledge of design and its impact on business and society.
The minor has the option to study both studio and academic courses; its primary intention is to complement existing majors across the University, providing students with an introduction to the field of design and increasingly diverse impact on industry and society. The minor is open to all Syracuse University undergraduates.
