Overview:
Information technology management has become critical to most, if not all professions and organizations. This 15-credit graduate certificate program in Information Technology Management (ITM) offers students with a broad range of disciplinary backgrounds a flexible way to gain foundational skills in information technology management and qualify for a possible subsequent entry into an MS in Information Systems (IS) or MS in Applied Data Science (ADS). With this program, students can expand their career options and gain a competitive advantage as they pursue career opportunities in business, government, or not-for-profit organizations. The program is available to full-time, part-time, and online students, and can be completed at the student’s own pace through evening, short courses, and online course delivery.

Student Learning Outcomes
1. Create information systems solutions for organizations and individuals
2. Apply principles of management strategy, economics, finance, and information systems to support how organizations add value
3. Analyze implications of professional decisions from the viewpoint of fairness, accountability, transparency, and ecological sustainability
4. Explain how public policy and socio-economic forces influence professional decision-making
5. Design communications for various purposes and audiences
6. Demonstrate leadership and collaboration skills in professional practice
Curriculum
This Certificate of Advanced Study in Information Technology Management (ITM) requires the completion of 15 credit hours, or four required classes, and one elective I. Required Core (12 credits)
Students are required to complete IST 614, IST 621, and IST 654. Students select either IST 651 OR IST 659 for their fourth required course.
II. Electives (3 credits)
Select ONE course from list below. A course from any graduate program at the iSchool (or at other schools on campus) that are not on this list may count as an elective but must be approved through the iSchool petition process before enrollment.
Earn a Master’s Degree
Graduates of the CAS-ITM have the option of applying all of the credits from the CAS-ITM toward the MSIS degree program. A student could also apply some of the credits from the CAS-ITM toward the MS in Applied Data Science if they choose. |
